A place of solitude or, a test of will and spirit (perhaps both)

The outdoors can provide a place of solitude. A place that can really help people physically and mentally relax.
It can also be a place that can challenge an individual to limits of physical and mental exhaustion. I have always had a special love for nature and the numerous pleasures that GOD has given us.

The solitude of fishing a trout stream or the physical anguish of carrying out the last quarter of elk you shot the night before. These events reinforce the knowledge that you have played an integral part in natures' circle of life. Those same events can provide you with endless evenings of pleasure while telling hunting and fishing stories to friends and family. The enjoyment of spending time outdoors is also a perfect time to pass that knowledge on to your children. Better time spent in the woods than on the street.

For me spending time in the outdoors in many of God's natural cathedrals can soothe the soul, and allows me to reflect on family, work and other day to day events that we experience through life. The chance to spend a few hours or days in the woods, enhances and makes one appreciate family and friends only that much more.
